A useful, reliable and easy to use drawing program specially designed for children that includes a collection of "starter" images, both coloring-book style and photo-realistic, and a large collections of stamps
Although it is best not to allow young children to use the computer on a regular basis, you can still let the older ones enjoy the PC every once in a while, provided they use age-appropriate software, such as Tux Paint.
A plethora of graphic elements
This application can be a seemingly never-ending source of entertainment for your kids, especially if they like drawing.
On the one hand, they can use the mouse to start freehand drawings, add lines or insert shapes, such as rectangle, square, circle, ellipsis, triangle, rhombus, pentagon, and so on. There are also some stamps they can use to make their creations more fun.
Nonetheless, it is the Magic section that is bound to attract all users to Tux Paint, regardless of their age. You can add flower stalks, fretwork, confetti, foam, grass, rain, mosaic, rainbow, kaleidoscope, snowflake, tornado, and many more to your painting.
Next, you can tamper with the perspective, brighten or darken the overall appearance, add patterns or glass tiles, then choose text messages or labels.
Separate configuration utility
Since this app is supposed to be used mainly by youngsters, it makes sense for the Settings window not to be available to them. This is why Tux Paint comes with a completely separate configuration tool, where you can adjust the main window's size, enable full-screen, as well as disable keyboard shortcuts or the Quit button.
Moreover, you can control the objects that are available within the main window, so your child can only use specific elements. You can also disable shape rotation (useful for younger children), show uppercase text only or load only simple stamp outlines.
Not only can you deactivate the printing and the save picture options, you can also use a joystick to operate Tux Paint.
In a nutshell, even though Tux Paint is marketed as a kids' app, you can use it no matter your age, and you are bound to have a lot of fun while also generating impressive drawings and designs.
